Period Packing Parties

According to a survey done in April of 2021 by Kotex, more than 2 in 5 survey participants (ages 18+) reported they could not purchase period products at some point in their life due to lack of income. This is an increase of 35% since the same survey was conducted in 2018.

The issue is called period poverty, and it disrupts everything from attendance in school, ability to work, and families having to choose between paying for food or period products.

Period poverty is happening in all of our schools in Lorain County, and Path & Green along with other community agencies* has a solution to end it. But we need your help! We need to pack our supply of tampons, liners, and sanitary pads into smaller more manageable portions to distribute to students.

How It Works

Path and Green provides all the materials and guidance needed to host an engaging and memorable volunteer event. Hosting a period packing party includes:

  • Organizing a group of volunteers to participate.

  • Securing a location, time, and place to host the party.

  • Hands-on volunteer time for participants by having them package period kits.

  • Education on the issue of period poverty and how your volunteer event is helping local teen girls.

  • Optional: If you and your participants are able, we would be happy to accept monetary donations to help with the costs related to making these period kits. Monetary donations are the most desirable as we can then buy tampons and pads in bulk at rock bottom prices that are not available to the public. We also have to buy the bags and stickers used for our kits. However, we will accept product donations as well.

Community Groups

Events are hosted by community groups such as student groups, youth organizations, sports teams, women’s associations, religious entities, families, and more.

  • Events are self-lead by the group. Leaders are responsible for picking up materials needed for their event at our office (across from Target and Lowe's in Lorain/Amherst) and then returning finished kits to us.

  • Events can be structured however you want and can be great addition to something you are already doing.

Employer Groups

Events are hosted and coordinated by an employer to provide a volunteer opportunity to its employees.

  • Events are led by Path and Green's President or by our Volunteer Coordinator.

  • Includes photo opportunity with Path and Green leadership to use when promoting corporate giving.

  • Promotion of employer's contribution in Path and Green's monthly email newsletter and social networks.

  • Events can be structured however you want and can be great addition to something you are already doing.
